Cologne

This saturday we made a trip to Cologne to see the Carnaval that takes place there. Due to the rail ticket prices in Germany we (namely me,Necip,Onur,Karina,Rafa and Jorge - new Mexican guy that just arrived Hamburg) decided to go with Schöneswochenende Ticket. It's only advantage is price - it allows to travel for twenty for hours using regional trains for 33 euro by 5 people. Anyway, after 7 hours and 3 changes we eventually arrived Cologne. The first sight that one may see from the train is famous Dawid's sculpture painted pink and yellow. It looks really crappy :)

Honestly, I expected to see a bit more in Cologne but because of Carnaval some places like Museum of Chocolate were closed. The same applied to the Cathedral what I was really sorry for. We just wandered around it having look from every side. It's equally impressive in a day and at night.

The Carnaval itself is a big party all over the old town. Lots of dressed up people, orchestras, Bratwurst saussages and Kölsch (local beer, very tasty by the way) selled at every corner.

Not very far away from the Cathedral (forgive me not being able to give the directions, it was late;P) there was a tent with folk party and dressed up people having fun inside.

Cologne is situated by the river Rhine, here is a view of the bridge at night:

The trip was really tiring but worth doing after all. Waiting for almost an hour in Düsseldorf for the next train wasn't the most pleasant experience. I want to travel with ICE next time:)
